The Murillo family was well prepared for the Hawkeye game today! Iowa fans can thank their good luck charm, Celia, for the win :)
Today was a challenging day. Celia isn't getting much pain medication and this has led to several crying spells. We have had to limit the amount of activity in Celia's room by keeping lights low, voices down, and regretfully turning away visitors. Mom and Dad do an awesome job taking turns and working together to calm her down. They have mastered some soothing techniques and we even heard the nurse say, "I just need to step back and let mom do it."
Celia's awesome nurse today figured out a way to swaddle our sweet baby. This technique really helped keep Celia from batting her arms and kicking her legs. We feel bad suppressing her natural cheerleading ability, but we do need to save those moves for after recovery :)
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. -Psalm 127:4
We are so thankful that Celia's intestines have good coloring :) Please pray that Celia's intestines will have enough viable tissue to absorb nutrients! Her surgeon was concerned that there is not enough viable tissue for her survival. Pray that God will bring her intestinal tissue to life and that the shape of the lumen will be functional! We will not know the answers to these prayers for weeks and we are asking you to pray for peace, rest, and health for Julya and Alex while they are waiting.
All I have seen teaches me
to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Pray that Celia's body will remain healthy while we wait for her intestines to be ready for digestion. Keep the amazing doctors and nurses at Blank Children's Hospital in your prayers! Pray that God's will be done. Thank you for your faithfulness! Thank you for your prayers! We have heard of you who pray for us and say that you do not even know how to pray- we LOVE you and THANK YOU and believe that your prayers are heard by God! Everyone wants to know what they can do to help right now and here it is: we really need prayer!
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7
We love you Celia! Keep up the good fight!
