Resting

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. -Psalm 62:1-2

Celia's primary nurse made a sign that hangs over her bed that reads, "you better have a very good reason to wake me up."  We all laughed as we read that sign tonight!  We squinted through the dim light to read the letters in the top that spelled out, "m-i-r-a-c-l-e."  Miracle.  Eyes swelled and deep breaths followed.  Thank you, Lord, for what you have so generously given! You are good.  After reading that sign, we made sure to only take pictures without a flash in fear of Celia's nurse ;)  (So, I apologize for the low-quality pictures this evening.)

Another soiled diaper was shown to the surgeon today and he stated, "That's it! You guys should be very happy!" An X-ray confirmed the surgeon's excitement as it showed signs of gas moving through her intestines!  Our next step is to see if gravity (instead of suction) is able to continually move bile down through the digestive tract.  After that, a sort of electrolyte water will orally be given.  If Celia is able to keep that down, we are on to feeding!

Julya spent most of the day rocking this sweet baby in her arms.  Celia's heart rate is significantly lower than we have seen in days past.  While we were in the room tonight, Celia was in a swaddle, and her heart rate was in the 150s.  Her head was turned to her least favored side, the left, in order to stretch out her neck muscles and keep her head rounded.  Celia took care of business, lifted her head, scraped the sheets with her face, and landed on the right side- her favorite.  Did we ever question that she is strong?  Her neonatologist said it best today, "she has opinion!"

Please keep Alex in your prayers tonight while he is balancing the workload of school and having a new baby.  His workload at school has significantly increased this year and he has a test tomorrow.  Please also pray for quality rest for Alex, Julya, and Celia!

Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living. -Psalm 116:7-9
